Kemela was born over 50 years ago to Robert Papaa Gbaingbain Okara of Bumoundi in Bayelsa State and Esther Bulounimigha Okara (nee Oki) of Patani in Delta State. He was born in London, England. His late Father was a Judge in the old Rivers State Judiciary whilst his late Mother retired as a Deputy Director in the old Rivers State Ministry of Health.

He attended the Township School and Port Harcourt Primary School and later Federal Government College, Enugu and Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Port Harcourt for his secondary school education. Thereafter, he proceeded to the United Kingdom for his “A” Levels after spending a year as a prelim student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He graduated with Honours in Law from the University of Middlesex, London and was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn and later as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

He has practiced law, for over 20 years, set up the first bank to bank to bank money transfer service in the United Kingdom and does a huge amount of voluntary work in the not for profit sector. He is a founding partner of Streamsowers and Kohn a major commercial Law firm with offices in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. He also sits on the board of Arc Lights Limited holders of the Lego franchise for West Africa and parts of North Africa. He is active in the not for profit sector as a Trustee of Freedom Foundation and a Director of KSF Micro Finance Bank. He is also very active in leadership in his local church – This Present House.

Kemela published his first book “Open Windows in Babylon” in 2011 and it is available at He is currently working on his second book which is due for publication this year.

In February 2012, Kemela was a Governorship Candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria in the Bayelsa State Governorship elections.

He has since set up the Kemela Okara Foundation with offices in Yenagoa to provide vocational and entrepreneurial training for young men and women in the Niger Delta region.

He is happily married to Chineze and they have 4 children.

Mrs. Chineze Okara graduated with Honours in Actuarial Science from the University of Lagos in 1990. She started her working life with Ventures and Trust Leasing as a Finance Analyst in 1991 before proceeding to Denmark as a Christian missionary with the Redeemed Christian Church of God in 1995. She later worked in Finance in the United Kingdom in 1996 with the Preston Group. Upon her return to Nigeria in 2001 she worked with Guaranty Trust Bank before proceeding to set up her business Chi Okara Luxury after leaving Guaranty Trust Bank in 2003. Today she has successfully grown Chi Okara Luxury into a purveyor of luxury goods in the jewelry, leather goods, crockery, crystal, watches and gift packaging sectors. She is happily married to Kemela Okara and they have four wonderful children.

Ituah Ighodalo founded Ighodalo & Co in 1987. He is an Associate, Nigerian Institute of Management (ANIM) (1992) and the American Institute of Management (1993).

A 1981 graduate of Economics and Accounting from the University of Hull, U.K., Pastor Ighodalo trained and qualified as a professional with the firm of Price Waterhouse Coopers in 1986. He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (1994) and the Nigeria Institute of Taxation (2000). As former Managing Partner, Ighodalo & Co, he brings to the firm 20 years of experience in Auditing, Accounting, Taxation, Human Resources and Financial Advisory Services.

Pastor Ighodalo has logged 19 years of experience in running a practice.


Mr. Ken Etete is a practical thinker with strong commercial intuition and business acumen; he has over 15 years experience in the areas of Oil and Gas, operations management, Project management as well as Joint Venture arrangements and finance structuring.

Mr. Etete holds a B.SC Accounting and Business Studies from the University of Port Harcourt, as well as an MBA in Oil and Gas (Lond. 2008).

He is on a number of Boards, including the Niger Delta Economic Blueprint, the Peredoaya City Project Gulf of Guinea. He is also a Special business advisor to Sunterra Nigeria Limited.

Mr. Etete has presented a number of papers at various international conferences, to include: Offshore West Africa; Paper on the economic development of marginal fields offshore West Africa with the FPSO Concept; Upstream Africa Cape Town (South Africa); Investment opportunities for Nigeria (London).


Tayo Obasanya is the promoter and Managing Director of Arc Lights Limited. He holds a degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lagos, and a Master in Business Administration degree from the Lagos Business School (PANAfrican University).

He was the Head, Advisory Partners at Ventures & Trusts Limited (a financial advisory and investment management firm with over 20 years operating experience in Nigeria).

He began his professional career at Alder Research (sister company to Alder Consulting), where he coordinated market research and was responsible for data gathering and analysis for the production of the premier Alder Brand Research on Nigerian Bank Brands.

He later joined Amni International Petroleum Development Company Limited, an indigenous oil and gas exploration & production company and worked directly with the Chief Executive Officer on a number of projects. He has experience and skills in corporate finance, financial management, project finance, business & strategy development.

He also has over 10 years experience as a volunteer teaching and mentoring young children.
